CELL PHONES?
I participated in a symposium today at the TechEd 2003 conference in Ontario, California. It was on Digital-based learning games and included Marc Prensky, Bonita Bray and Bob Boufford. It was a good symposium, I think, but what's sticking in my mind this evening is Marc's contention that cell phones will be the next big platform for eLearning.

Why? Market penetration, for one. There are only 30 million PDAs out there but a billion cell phones! Cost, for another---a computer may cost $1000, a PDA $200-500, but the average cell phone costs about $100. Capabilities, for another---as cell phones get cheaper, they still grow in function, with cell phones now serving as video game machines, MP3 players, text messaging platforms, and oh, yeah----PHONES.
